Kevin Feige has not ruled out a meeting between Spider-Man and Venom. His short answer will interest fans who have waited years to see Tom Holland's Peter Parker face Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock, but it does not confirm that Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures is developing a crossover.
The comment came during a Happy Sad Confused interview with Feige and longtime Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal. Host Josh Horowitz asked whether there was still hope for Holland's Spider-Man to meet Hardy's Venom. Pascal answered, "It would be great." Feige then said, "Always have hope."
Horowitz posted the video clip on July 29. The full podcast episode, which also includes an interview with Holland, followed on July 30. The conversation was part of the publicity for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Brand New Day opens in US theaters on July 31 and is produced by Feige and Pascal. Their joint interview gave Horowitz a direct chance to ask about the characters controlled across Marvel and Sony's partnership, but the answer stayed at the level of possibility.
Feige Did Not Announce a Crossover
The exchange was playful rather than official. A joke about having no hope followed the first answers, with Feige and Pascal reacting to the question instead of giving details. Neither producer named a movie, writer, director, release date, contract, or active discussion involving Hardy.
The most literal reading is that Feige does not want to close the door. He did not say that he has a plan to make the meeting happen. He also did not confirm that it would take place inside the MCU rather than another Sony and Marvel continuity.
Holland's solo Spider-Man movies are released by Sony and connected to the MCU through an agreement with Marvel Studios. Any live-action crossover using Holland and Hardy would need the companies to continue working together.
That arrangement has already allowed Holland to appear in Avengers movies while keeping Sony in charge of his solo releases. Venom was developed in Sony's separate line of Marvel films. Bringing the two actors together would involve story decisions, schedules, contracts, and agreement over which universe hosts the meeting.
Feige has kept the same careful position for years. In 2019, he said a Spider-Man and Venom crossover was probably up to Sony and seemed likely at some point. In 2021, after Hardy's Venom briefly entered the MCU, Feige said the natural question was how Sony and Marvel could begin bringing the characters together.
The Movies Already Teased a Meeting
The credits scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage moved Eddie and Venom into the MCU, where they saw Holland's Peter Parker on television. Spider-Man: No Way Home sent Eddie back to his own universe before he could meet Peter. A small piece of the symbiote stayed behind.
The remaining symbiote gives Marvel another option. The MCU could attach it to a different human host and create a Venom separate from Hardy's Eddie Brock. Feige's new answer does not say whether Marvel prefers that route, Hardy's established version, or no Venom story at all.
No Way Home left that material in a bar without identifying who would find it. Brand New Day may continue Peter's story without using Venom, and Marvel has not announced another project that explains the leftover symbiote. The setup remains available, but it is not a promise.
Sony described 2024's Venom: The Last Dance as the final movie in Hardy's trilogy. The announced series ended, but Hardy has said he would like his Venom to fight Holland's Spider-Man. His interest does not mean Sony, Marvel, or Holland has agreed to a project.
Sony is also developing an animated Venom movie. Pascal said in the new interview that it remains in development, but no connection to Hardy's live-action story or Holland's Spider-Man has been announced.
What Fans Can Take From the Comment
Feige was asked directly about Holland and Hardy. His answer keeps their possible meeting in public conversation, and Pascal also sounded interested in the idea. That is more encouraging than a firm rejection, but it remains only an interview response.
There is no announced Spider-Man and Venom crossover, and the MCU has not explained what it will do with the symbiote left in No Way Home. Fans can keep hoping, as Feige suggested. They should not treat the quote as proof that Tom Holland and Tom Hardy are preparing to share a movie.
