Kate O’Flynn has won the 2026 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Patricia in Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay. It is the first Emmy win of her career, earned on her first nomination.
The Television Academy confirmed O’Flynn as the winner during the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday night. She prevailed in a seven-person field that included Dale Dickey, her Widow’s Bay co-star, along with Hannah Einbinder, Janelle James, Michelle Pfeiffer, Megan Stalter and Jessica Williams.
Widow’s Bay and Hacks each placed two performers in the category. Einbinder and Stalter represented Hacks, James was nominated for Abbott Elementary, Pfeiffer for Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Williams for Shrinking. O’Flynn’s victory separated a crowded field in which no single series held more than two spots.
The win is a career first for Kate O’Flynn
O’Flynn entered the ceremony with one Emmy nomination. The supporting-actress race therefore delivered both her first nomination and her first win in the same year.
The Academy’s performer record identifies this Widow’s Bay role as O’Flynn’s only Emmy nomination to date and names Patricia as the performance being recognized. The category result now turns that single entry into a win rather than adding another chapter to a long Emmy campaign.
The result also gives one of Widow’s Bay’s central ensemble performances a major spotlight. O’Flynn’s work as Patricia had to balance the show’s two competing tones: a deadpan small-town comedy and a genuine supernatural threat that the island’s residents understand long before its mayor does.
Who does Kate O’Flynn play in Widow’s Bay?
O’Flynn plays Patricia, one of the residents caught in the increasingly dangerous events on a remote New England island. Mayor Tom Loftis, played by Matthew Rhys, wants to revive the struggling community by turning it into a tourist destination. The locals keep warning him that the island is cursed. Once visitors begin arriving, the old stories start coming true.
Created and run by Katie Dippold, the ten-episode Apple Studios series combines horror with character-driven comedy. Hiro Murai directed five episodes and executive produced the season. The ensemble also includes Rhys, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll and Dickey.
Widow’s Bay had multiple major Emmy races
O’Flynn’s category was only one part of the show’s main-ceremony presence. Widow’s Bay entered the night nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Rhys nominated for lead actor, Root for supporting actor, Dippold for writing and Murai for directing. Dickey gave the series a second nominee in O’Flynn’s own category.
That range of nominations reflects how the series was recognized across performance, writing, direction and the top comedy field. O’Flynn is now the first member of that main ensemble to turn one of those acting nominations into a win during the televised ceremony.

All ten episodes of Widow’s Bay are available on Apple TV. The season premiered with two episodes on April 29, followed a weekly rollout that included a special two-episode release on May 27, and concluded June 17. Apple renewed the series for a second season before the first-season finale. A return date, production schedule and season two episode count have not been announced.
