Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent will start its Japanese TV run in April 2027, and its new teaser finally lets the main pair speak. Hiroto Shimizu voices Dan Ichikura, the boy whose glasses are supposed to make him look harmless. Suzuko Hara plays Hiro Momose, who wants a quiet school life and has very little patience for delinquents.

The October 1 announcement adds the month, the lead voices and the new preview to the previously announced adaptation. It also names Yuma Tomochika as Ohana-chan, the curious little creature narrating the teaser. The anime’s Japanese title is Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun; English manga readers know Naruki’s story as Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent.

Dan’s glasses are not much of a disguise

Momose wants high school to be peaceful. Ichikura initially looks like someone who might fit that plan: a quiet boy with dark hair and glasses, rather than the sort of troublemaker she wants to avoid. Then she learns that he had a frightening reputation back in middle school.

He says he has changed, but he still gets into fights. That is the problem built into the manga’s opening premise. Momose has to decide what to make of the person in front of her, not just the studious-looking version he would like everyone to see. Keeping his past quiet does not make his current behavior disappear.

The new teaser brings them together through the Otasuke Club, or help club, which Ichikura leads. The official announcement describes their first meeting there before showing his delinquent side. It is a useful introduction to the romantic comedy: she is trying to stay out of trouble, and the boy running a club devoted to helping people may bring trouble with him.

What the new voices say about the pair

Hiroto Shimizu, the Japanese voice of Dan Ichikura.

Shimizu describes Dan as strong, good-looking and capable at school, but not a flawless or unusually grown-up person. In his official cast comment, he emphasizes the teenager’s sincerity and awkward behavior. Dan is trying to act like a model student, and the actor thinks he is much less convincing at it than he realizes.

Shimizu jokes about the difficulty Dan has with other people. Translated from Japanese:

“He doesn’t quite understand ordinary communication.”

That makes the role more than a switch between a polite student and a tough guy. Shimizu’s description leaves room for a boy who can handle a fight more easily than a normal conversation. He also describes the series as a youth romantic comedy with some of the intensity associated with boys’ manga.

Suzuko Hara, the Japanese voice of Hiro Momose.

Hara focuses on Momose’s earnestness. In her cast comment, she says the character works hard, worries about things and can be clumsy. Those qualities remind her of her own school days. The character she describes is not simply there to react to Dan’s reputation; she has her own doubts and a strong desire to do well.

The manga and the team behind the anime

Naruki’s original manga runs in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend. Its first Japanese collected volume was published in June 2021, and Seven Seas publishes an English edition. The romance starts with Momose learning about Ichikura’s past, rather than with the two already in an established relationship.

Makoto Hoshino directs the adaptation. Megumi Shimizu handles series composition, Ruriko Watanabe designs the characters, and Studio Flad and Wao World produce the animation. Hoshino’s official comment singles out the odd pairing of a boy who thinks glasses make him look serious and a girl with an often-rude internal running commentary.

Where and when it will air

April 2027 is a Japanese premiere window, not a confirmed U.S. launch. The series is announced for the ABC TV and TV Asahi network’s ANiMAZiNG!!! slot, with BS11 broadcasts and ABEMA streaming also planned in Japan.

An exact first-episode date, episode count and U.S. streaming partner have not been announced. The English manga edition does not establish an English anime license. For now, the new teaser is the way to hear these three performers together before the Japanese broadcast begins next spring.
