Vin Diesel points to December

Fast Forever may finally have a path to the set. Vin Diesel says the next Fast & Furious movie could begin filming in December if the remaining plans hold. MeriStation reported the update from a Variety conversation in which Diesel said the cast could return later this year.

That is a target, not a start-of-production announcement. Universal has not released a filming schedule, and the movie has already gone through years of rewrites and shifting public updates.

Diesel also said four writing teams worked on the script over four years. He told Variety that he cried when he read the latest version, which he believes gives the saga the ending it needs. That is his reaction to the script, not a guarantee of what the final film will look like.

Fast Forever is the official title

Universal calls the eleventh mainline movie Fast Forever. It follows Fast X, whose cliffhanger left Dominic Toretto and his crew in serious trouble. The Associated Press lists March 17, 2028 as the theatrical release date.

Fans still use “Fast & Furious 11” because it is the easiest way to identify the film. Fast Forever is the official title and the last chapter currently planned for the main saga.

The last set video caused confusion

In July, Diesel posted a video from a set with Dom’s Dodge Charger and thanked fans for waiting. It looked like filming had started. TheWrap later reported that the footage came from a World Cup promotion, not Fast Forever production.
