When did Chumbak come out?

Netflix’s current trailer announcement gives Chumbak a September 10 premiere. The series is now presented as available on the service, and the cast guide published September 11 treats the full neighborhood as an active title.

An earlier July announcement listed August 28, but Netflix changed the date before release. The later August 25 announcement is the most recent official scheduling statement, so September 10 is the date used here.

The exact hour, ratings and language choices can differ by region and device. The checked India title page provides the current catalog details described below, but viewers elsewhere should use their local Netflix listing.

What is Chumbak about?

Chumbak follows five multigenerational families living side by side in a row-house neighborhood. A problem that begins inside one home soon brings in neighbors with advice, questions, food, gossip or practical help.

The comedy is built around relationships rather than one continuous mystery. Netflix describes stories about contemporary marriages, parenting, aging friends and community life, with each household adding a different kind of pressure.

Chembur is a real, long-established Mumbai neighborhood, while Chumbak Colony and its residents are fictional. Creators Kapadia and Majethia use the colony to show neighbors becoming an extended family even when they disagree or intrude on each other.

Who plays the five Chumbak families?

The Merchants are Rajni, Kuku and their son Nikhilesh. Neena Gupta plays sari designer Rajni, while Deven Bhojani plays retired pilot Kuku, who lives with dementia. Priyal Gupta plays Nikhilesh, their adult son in the United States.

The Kejriwals are actor Dharmendra, flight attendant Kiran and their daughter Piya. Sumeet Raghavan plays Dharmendra and Sandeepa Dhar plays Kiran. Their family story includes the attention created by Dharmendra’s television work and the pressure it places on Kiran and Piya.

The Khannas are Priyanka, Aditya and their sons Ruhaan and Vedant. Manasi Parekh plays outspoken homemaker Priyanka, Sumeet Vyas plays dry-witted advertising executive Adi, and Vidhaan Sharma and Vidvaan Sharma play the two boys.

The Taraporewalas are writer Hutoxi, chef Freddy and his mother Gulshan. Amyra Dastur plays Hutoxi, who records colony life in her book The Chumbak Chapters. Anant Vijay Joshi plays Freddy, while Delnaaz Irani plays his forceful mother.

The Oberois are model Twinkle and cardiac surgeon Micky. Helly Shah and Arjun Bijlani play the couple. Atul Kumar plays Twinkle’s wealthy and suspicious father, Nari Ravjiani, who is protective of his daughter.

How many Chumbak episodes are on Netflix?

Netflix labels Chumbak Season 1 as 16 episodes, but the checked public title page exposes eight numbered episode cards. Those visible cards run from 23 to 28 minutes. Netflix does not explain on that page whether the other eight belong to another batch, a different access state or a later listing update.

The first episodes begin with Kuku going missing and Rajni reconsidering their marriage. The conflict expands into legal advice, Dharmendra’s work, Micky’s affair, a mystery woman connected to Kuku and trouble involving the Khanna children.

Episode 8 ends the public list with the colony searching for Ruhaan after he runs away. Because the title page does not display summaries for episodes 9 through 16, their plots and runtimes remain outside the confirmed public record used here.

What does the Chumbak trailer show?

The official trailer introduces the colony through overlapping domestic arguments and sudden group interventions. Couples disagree, parents worry about their children, neighbors exchange phone evidence and almost every tense moment attracts a larger audience.

Netflix India’s YouTube upload runs two minutes and sixteen seconds. The India title page separately lists a one-minute-fifty-second trailer and a 44-second teaser, so those service clips are not treated as identical cuts.

Who created Chumbak?

Aatish Kapadia writes and directs Chumbak and is also a co-producer. Jamnadas “JD” Majethia is a creator, producer and showrunner. Netflix connects both men to the earlier Indian comedies Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi.

Hats Off Production makes the series for Netflix. The checked announcements do not provide episode-by-episode writing or directing credits, so the production details here remain at the series level.

Languages, rating and confirmed limits

The checked India page lists Hindi as the original language, plus English, Hindi audio description, Tamil and Telugu audio. It lists English and Hindi subtitles and labels the series U/A 13+. Tudum displays TV-14 on its checked surface.

Those labels are regional catalog details, not universal promises. Netflix can vary audio, subtitles and age ratings by country, account and device.

A second season and the exact presentation of episodes 9 through 16 have not been announced in the checked sources. The Chumbak series page keeps the confirmed cast, release and production record together. More current releases are collected in the TV section.
