Lanterns follows veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart as they investigate a dark, Earth-based mystery. The HBO series combines a police investigation with the science-fiction scale of the Green Lantern Corps, moving between the American heartland and the wider DC universe. Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre plays John Stewart. The cast also includes Kelly Macdonald, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. The first season was ordered for eight episodes and premiered on HBO Max on August 16, 2026. The first season is a contained mystery, while early comments from co-creator Damon Lindelof indicate that the creative team sees room for more stories if HBO renews the show.
