Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend is the concluding theatrical chapter of the anime based on Hajime Kamoshida’s Dengeki Bunko light novels. The film carries Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima’s story from high school into their university years and resolves the remaining mystery of Puberty Syndrome. It is a continuation of the existing Rascal Does Not Dream anime, not a standalone remake or a new television season. After Mai publicly identifies herself as the mysterious singer Touko Kirishima, impossible events that people saw in dreams begin happening in reality. Sakuta’s perception no longer matches the world around him, the #DREAMING posts disappear, and another possible version of Sakuta sends a warning: stop Touko before reality is rewritten. Sakuta searches for Touko while trying to protect the people and relationships changed by Puberty Syndrome. Soichi Masui directs from Masahiro Yokotani’s screenplay, Satomi Tamura designs the characters, CloverWorks handles animation production, and fox capture plan returns for the score. The film opens in Japanese theaters on October 16, 2026. The official English site confirms the story, staff, and cast, but no North American or European date and no post-theatrical streaming service have been announced.
