Neva follows Alba, a young woman who forms a bond with a wolf cub after an encounter with dark forces. They travel together through a world that is slowly dying. Their relationship changes as the wolf grows, turning an animal that needs reassurance into a companion who can help Alba face dangerous creatures.

The adventure combines side-on platforming, puzzles and combat. Alba uses a sword, and the wolf can take part in attacks as she becomes more capable. Moving through a forest can mean crossing a gap one moment and dealing with an enemy the next, so the painted scenery is part of an active adventure rather than a long, uninterrupted walk.

Crossing gaps remains part of the adventure alongside its fights.

Calling to the cub and offering reassurance are part of the early relationship. Later, Alba can direct the wolf's attacks, making their cooperation useful in fights and puzzles. This is a single-player game: the animal companion is part of the adventure, rather than a role for a second human player.

Nomada Studio developed Neva, with Devolver Digital publishing it on October 15, 2024. Players drawn to GRIS should know that Neva adds regular fights, danger and a story centered on caring for another character. Difficulty options are available, but the story still includes violent encounters and loss. This page covers the original game; the separate Prologue expansion has its own earlier chapter and tougher encounters.
