About the game

Deadlock is a competitive multiplayer action game developed and published by Valve. It combines third-person combat with hero abilities, lane-based objectives, team composition, and item builds that change how each match plays. Players choose a hero before the lobby forms, work with teammates across several lanes, collect resources, improve their build, and push through the opposing team’s defenses. The game is still an early-development build. Valve’s official Steam listing says access remains limited to friend invitations from existing playtesters, and the full release date is still to be announced. Temporary art, experimental systems, balance changes, and major matchmaking updates should be expected while development continues. Deadlock currently offers Standard and Ranked matchmaking. Standard Mode has no party-size or skill-spread restriction and is intended for lower-stakes play or hero practice. Ranked Mode requires at least 60 Standard wins, a minimum of three eligible heroes, and 15 Standard wins with each hero a player wants to use. The ladder runs from Initiate through Eternus, with seasonal history, visible Rank Points, calibration matches, and solo or duo queues after calibration. The safest way to describe Deadlock is as an active PC playtest rather than a finished release. Its core multiplayer structure is playable and regularly updated, but Valve has not announced a public launch date or final system requirements.
