Major spoiler warning: This article explains the complete Season 2 finale, including Bella’s death and the final scene with Freddy.

The conspiracy leads back to Gospel John, while Freddy admits that he knew about the plan and helped him. Eddie first tries to have Bobby Glass killed, learns that Bobby was the wrong suspect, saves him, and then forces Freddy to kill Gospel John with a chainsaw. The season ends with Freddy holding Gospel John’s severed head while Eddie lights a cigar.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Ending: Quick Answers

  • Who killed Bella? The plot leads to Gospel John, with Freddy aware of and involved in his plan.
  • Does Bobby die? No. Eddie and Susie stop the prison hit that Eddie arranged after blaming him.
  • Who dies in the van? Gospel John. Eddie makes Freddy carry out the killing.
  • Is Season 3 confirmed? Yes, but Netflix has not announced a release date, episode count, or full returning cast.

Who Killed Bella?

Bella’s plane explosion and the armed attack on Halstead Manor are traced to Gospel John. He meets Freddy in rehab, turns Freddy’s resentment over the Halstead inheritance into a grievance against Eddie, and compares the brothers to Jacob and Esau.

Freddy later admits that he knew what Gospel John was planning and helped him. The finale does not identify a separate bomber or show who physically planted an explosive on Bella’s plane. It establishes Gospel John and Freddy as the people behind the conspiracy rather than assigning every practical step.

Why Does Eddie Blame Bobby Glass?

Eddie gets the answer he wants by coercing Bravo One. The surviving mercenary from the Halstead raid is tortured while Eddie repeatedly suggests Bobby’s name. Bravo One agrees, and Eddie asks Marco Moretti to arrange Bobby’s murder in prison.

Uncle Stan then reveals that he sold Eddie’s £100 million debt to Bobby on Eddie and Bella’s wedding day. Bobby has a financial reason to keep Eddie alive, which breaks Eddie’s theory. Eddie and Susie rush to the prison before the hit man can finish the job.

Does Bobby Survive the Prison Attack?

Bobby survives. Eddie helps stop the assassin in the prison banya, and Bobby kills the attacker with a shiv. Saving him does not repair the partnership: Bobby still owns Eddie’s debt, while Eddie makes clear that he will not return as an obedient subordinate.

The earlier Season 2 and Season 3 guide tracks Netflix’s confirmed renewal. The finale now gives that renewal a conflict: Bobby has leverage over Eddie, but no longer has his loyalty.

Why Does Eddie Make Freddy Kill Gospel John?

Eddie punishes both men with one choice. He does not shoot Freddy after the confession. Instead, he puts Freddy in a van with a bound Gospel John and a chainsaw, then tells his brother that someone has to die.

Freddy kills Gospel John and carries out the head. Lead writer Matthew Read describes Eddie’s logic as a warped attempt to make Freddy accept responsibility. Theo James says Eddie has become capable of “deep and savage violence.” The final order and Eddie’s calm reaction show that grief has changed how he uses power.

How Does Bella’s Death Change Eddie?

Bella gives Eddie a possible life beyond the criminal struggle, then dies hours after their wedding. Their marriage begins as a strategic alliance between aristocratic families, but Eddie falls in love with her. Her plane explodes as she circles above him on the way to Switzerland.

Read says the season first breaks Eddie physically through Bobby’s punishment and then makes him emotionally vulnerable through Bella. The finale shows the result: he is more decisive and dangerous, but his revenge is driven by a loss he has not processed.

Where Do Eddie and Susie Stand?

Eddie and Susie finish the season closer, but neither accepts being controlled. They save Bobby together and uncover Gospel John’s plan. Kaya Scodelario says Susie also realizes that she cannot remain under her father’s name or depend on Eddie as her permanent partner.

Susie has quietly built a connection with Carlos Vargas while Bobby still believes he controls one organization. That gives her an independent route into Season 3 rather than reducing her story to whether she and Eddie become a couple.

How Does Geoff Fit Into the Finale?

Geoff makes the investigation possible by surviving the Halstead attack and leaving Bravo One alive. Episode 7 uses his loyalty to protect Tarquin and the estate. Vinnie Jones explains Geoff’s long build in Pixel Twelve’s separate cast interview.

Is the Bannik Real?

The Bannik remains deliberately unexplained. Bobby treats the sauna spirit as a source of prophecy, and the finale makes the coincidences harder to dismiss. Read says the writers intentionally opened the series to more mystical ideas, but the episode never proves that the spirit is real.

What Does the Ending Set Up for Season 3?

Season 3 is official, but its story and release date are not. Netflix has confirmed that Guy Ritchie will direct again. It has not announced when production begins, how many episodes it will have, or which Season 2 characters will return.

The finale leaves four clear story threads: Bobby owns Eddie’s debt, Eddie no longer accepts Bobby’s authority, Freddy has been forced into a killing, and Susie is building a separate power base. Those are consequences visible in the ending, not confirmed Season 3 plot details. The The Gentlemen series page keeps the confirmed cast, release history, and future updates together.
