Prime Video has canceled Spider-Noir after one season. The Nicolas Cage-led Marvel series will not return, even after earning 11 Emmy nominations in 2026.
The decision comes a little more than three months after the show premiered in late May. The first season now stands as the complete series. Neither Prime Video nor Sony Pictures Television has publicly given a reason for the cancellation.
What happened to Spider-Noir
Spider-Noir follows Ben Reilly, a private investigator in 1930s New York who is also the city’s only superhero. Cage played the character in a live-action story connected to the Spider-Man Noir comics and the wider Spider-Verse. Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson also appeared.
The show was developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot with Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. That team gave the series a direct connection to Sony’s animated Spider-Man movies, but the story itself used a separate live-action setting.
Why the Emmy nominations stand out
Amazon’s own Emmy announcement lists Spider-Noir as the company’s most-nominated Prime Video series of 2026, with 11 nominations. The categories recognize areas such as production design, cinematography, title design, makeup, music, sound, visual effects, and stunt work.
The nominations show that the series was noticed for its craft, but awards recognition does not guarantee another season. Spider-Noir also recorded 2.6 billion viewing minutes during its first six weeks, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings. The numbers provide useful context, although they do not explain the business decision.
Sony and Amazon are not done with Marvel stories
The cancellation does not end Sony Pictures Television’s relationship with Amazon Studios. The companies are still working on another Marvel-universe story and have already identified the next chapter, though no title, cast, or release plan has been announced.
Spider-Noir is now a one-season show that received more Emmy nominations than any other Prime Video series this year and still will not continue. Fans can watch the existing episodes as a complete story, but there is no second season to wait for.
