Re:ZERO −Starting Life in Another World− Season 4 has moved into its second half, and the new Recapture Arc trailer makes the next problem hard to miss. Subaru and his allies are leaving the damage of Priestella behind to chase a way of bringing back what the Witch Cult took from them.
The trailer arrived on August 5, a week before the arc began. The Recapture Arc is now airing, so this is not another release-window tease: episode 78, titled "From Now On," opened the eight-episode second cour on August 12. The first cour, called the Loss Arc, ran for 11 episodes.

The Recapture Arc is already airing
Season 4 is split into two connected arcs rather than one uninterrupted 19-episode run. The Loss Arc started on April 8 with 11 episodes, while the Recapture Arc began on August 12 and is scheduled for eight episodes. That structure gives the new arc a clean entry point for viewers who finished the first half and took a break during the gap.
Episode 78 is the first Recapture Arc episode. Its official title, "From Now On," fits the shift in direction: the story has moved from surviving the battle in the Watergate City of Priestella to deciding how Subaru's group can undo the losses that followed it.
For anyone catching up, the split matters when searching for episodes. Recapture is not Season 5 or a separate Re:ZERO project. It is the back half of Season 4, with its own opening trailer and eight-episode count.
Why Subaru is heading for the Pleiades Watchtower
The official setup starts with the aftermath of Priestella. Subaru's side survives the battle, but the victory leaves permanent-looking damage: Rem remains asleep, Crusch's memories have been eaten, and Julius's name has been taken. In Re:ZERO, losing a name is not a small identity mix-up. It changes how other people remember the victim and leaves the person fighting to prove who they are.
Subaru's possible answer is Shaula, a so-called wise man who is said to possess every form of knowledge. Shaula is connected to the Pleiades Watchtower, the farthest tower in the Auguria Dunes. The route is dangerous even before the group reaches the building. The official synopsis points to violent weather, unknown mabeasts, and a desert that has already defeated powerful fighters.
That gives the arc a different shape from the Priestella battle. The characters are not trying to hold one city against an attack. They are moving through an unfamiliar landscape with a specific goal: reclaiming the people and pieces of identity that were swallowed by the Authority of Gluttony.
What the new trailer shows
The trailer leans into the Gluttony threat, showing confrontations with the Sin Archbishops tied to the damage in Priestella. It also fills the screen with the series' new desert-and-tower imagery, giving the next journey a more dangerous, otherworldly look than the city battles that closed the first cour.
Subaru is not presented as a suddenly stronger hero. He is still the person who has to make plans, fail, remember what everyone else cannot, and talk his friends into trying again. That tension is what makes the journey feel like Re:ZERO instead of a standard power-up arc. The trailer's action cuts are quick, but the emotional hook remains the same: Subaru cannot accept that the people he loves have been reduced to missing memories or an endless sleep.
The preview also uses part of "Ender Ember," the new ending song from MYTH & ROID featuring TK from Ling Tosite Sigure. The song gives the trailer a sharp, uneasy rhythm rather than turning the material into a victory lap.
The cast and studio are back for the next cour
White Fox remains the animation studio behind Season 4. Masahiro Shinohara is directing, Masahiro Yokotani is handling series composition, Haruka Sagawa is the character designer and chief animation director, and Kenichiro Suehiro is composing the music. Tappei Nagatsuki, the author of the original light novels, is credited as script supervisor.
The returning voice cast includes Yusuke Kobayashi as Subaru, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Satomi Arai as Beatrice, Rie Murakawa as Ram, Inori Minase as Rem, Takuya Eguchi as Julius, Kana Ueda as Anastasia, and Eri Suzuki as Meili. Fairouz Ai plays Shaula, the figure whose knowledge may be the only route toward repairing the damage from Gluttony.
Crunchyroll carries the current season outside the Japanese broadcast schedule, and episode 78 is already listed with English and Brazilian Portuguese subtitles. Availability and dub timing can vary by region, so viewers should check the service's local listing before planning a full catch-up day.
What the trailer still leaves open
The preview does not explain how Subaru will reach the tower, what Shaula wants from the group, or whether the memories and names taken by Gluttony can be restored in the same way. It also does not reveal every new enemy waiting in the dunes. Those gaps look deliberate: the trailer establishes the destination and the cost of the journey without giving away every answer before the episodes arrive.
There is also no announcement for a follow-up season beyond the eight Recapture Arc episodes. The current material covers Season 4, not a renewal. Any claim that the anime has already been extended into another season should be treated as rumor until the production committee says so.
The Recapture Arc now has a clear job. It needs to turn the losses in Priestella into a journey that feels worth the risk, while giving Subaru and his allies a problem that cannot be solved by simply winning one more fight. The trailer suggests the desert will be cruel, the tower will be stranger, and the cost of failure will stay personal.
