If you have seen people searching for Disney's new princess in 2026, they are probably talking about Billie from Hexed. She is the new young heroine leading Walt Disney Animation Studios' next original movie. She has magic, a distinctive look, and a large fantasy adventure, but Disney has not officially called her a princess.
Hexed arrives in theaters on November 25, 2026. It follows Billie, an impulsive teenager who learns that she has magical abilities she never understood. Those powers send her out of her normal suburban life and into Hexe, a large hidden realm populated by witches.
The official Disney synopsis says Billie must work with her mother, Alice, as they uncover family mysteries that could change the world of witches. The story is not only about a teenager learning spells. It also places a mother and daughter with very different personalities inside the same dangerous situation.
Who Is Billie?
Billie is voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, known to many viewers as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye and the voice of Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse movies. Disney describes Billie as impulsive and unconventional. She acts before she has everything figured out, which gives the movie room to show mistakes instead of introducing another heroine who is immediately confident and prepared.
Rashida Jones voices Alice, Billie's more careful mother. Directors Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand have described the relationship between them as a major part of the movie. Alice is not simply an adult who stays home while Billie has an adventure. She enters Hexe with her daughter and becomes part of the mystery.
The magical cast also includes Tracey Ullman as Ms. Quill, an enchanted feather pen, and Stephen Fry as Elias Quire, a living journal. They are unusual objects rather than standard talking-animal friends, which gives Hexed a different group of characters from recent Disney films.
Behind the camera, Veerasunthorn previously co-directed Raya and the Last Dragon, while Hand worked as a director on Moana 2. Trinidad has story and directing experience across several Disney Animation projects. Hexed is therefore being made by filmmakers who understand the studio's adventure movies, but the new setting lets them move away from islands, kingdoms, and musical royalty.
