Final Fantasy VII Revelation will end the Remake trilogy on April 8, 2027. Square Enix, however, is already talking about FFVII as a series that should continue after that ending.
During a PAX West presentation, the company described one of the remake project’s goals as taking Final Fantasy VII beyond its place as a classic and giving it an “ever-evolving future.” No post-trilogy game was announced with that statement.
What did Square Enix actually say?
The presentation framed the trilogy as a way to pass Final Fantasy VII to a new generation and expand its future. That points to a long-term franchise plan. It is not a trailer for Part 4, a new sequel, or another remake.
Square Enix has not named the team, format, story, or release window for whatever follows Revelation. Fans are free to imagine a Vincent game, another Zack story, or a return to Advent Children, but none of those ideas has been confirmed.
Revelation still ends the Remake trilogy
Final Fantasy VII Remake covered Cloud’s escape from Midgar, while Rebirth opened the journey across the wider world. Revelation is the third and final part of that retelling, with Meteor threatening the planet and Sephiroth still at the center of the conflict.
The finale is coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. Square Enix has shown the Highwind, playable Vincent and Cid, and a larger connected world, but it is still holding back major story answers.
Calling Revelation the end of the trilogy does not make it the end of every FFVII story. It closes this three-game version of the 1997 RPG.
What could come after Revelation?
Square Enix has already kept the world active through Crisis Core Reunion and Ever Crisis. Those projects revisit different parts of the timeline without turning the main Remake story into an endless sequence of numbered chapters.
A future release could be a smaller character-focused game, a new take on an older spin-off, animation, or something that has not appeared in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII before. The company’s wording leaves all of those doors open without choosing one.
FFVII is not being retired when Revelation arrives. The Remake trilogy is ending; the franchise is not. Fans have a clear finish line for Cloud’s current journey and one big question behind it: what should Square Enix make next?
