Tall Tales & Murder is a six-part Irish crime comedy about Bridget, a night-shift nurse at a Dublin nursing home, and Paul, a car thief trying to stay out of prison. A comatose patient wakes up, identifies himself as former gangster Grinner McNair, and tells them about a stash of Celtic gold. Bridget and Paul decide to look for it, but the crime boss Ma Baker and gangster Wesley Swanson also become part of the chase. The story includes a separate tale about monks, Vikings and a missing holy book. It is based on Caimh McDonnell’s Dublin Trilogy books. Ella-Lily Hyland plays Bridget, Casey Walsh plays Paul, Aidan Gillen plays Grinner, Philippa Dunne plays Ma Baker, Brian Doherty plays detective Bunny Ryan, Aisling O’Sullivan plays the nursing-home matron, and Packy Lee plays Wesley. Stuart Carolan and Chris Addison co-created the show. Addison and Neasa Hardiman direct. Avalon and Metropolitan Pictures produced it for RTÉ and BBC Northern Ireland. In Ireland, RTÉ One begins the show September 27, 2026 at 9:40 p.m. local time. RTÉ says all six episodes will be available on RTÉ Player from September 27. This is a scheduled premiere, and the page does not claim the episodes are already online before release. The BBC has announced an autumn 2026 broadcast on BBC One and BBC One Northern Ireland but has not given a precise date in its press release. Availability in other regions is unconfirmed.
