Overview

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, this HBO fantasy drama follows the Targaryen royal family in Westeros. Rhaenyra is a dragonrider and the king’s first-born child. Her claim to the throne draws her family and the kingdom’s powerful houses into a struggle over who should rule. Milly Alcock plays the younger Rhaenyra, with Emma D’Arcy portraying her as an adult. Emily Carey and Olivia Cooke play the younger and older Alicent Hightower, daughter of the king’s adviser Otto Hightower. Paddy Considine plays Viserys, Matt Smith plays his brother Daemon, and Rhys Ifans plays Otto. The story also follows Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen, played by Steve Toussaint and Eve Best; Fabien Frankel as Criston Cole; and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria. Tom Glynn-Carney, Ewan Mitchell and Phia Saban play Aegon, Aemond and Helaena Targaryen. George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal co-created the series, with Condal serving as showrunner. House of the Dragon premiered on HBO on August 21, 2022. Three seasons are available on HBO Max.
