American Hostage

American Hostage is an eight-episode MGM+ psychological thriller based on the first season of the scripted podcast of the same name and a real 1970s hostage crisis. Jon Hamm plays Fred Heckman, an Indianapolis radio reporter forced into the middle of a 63-hour standoff when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed live. Giovanni Ribisi plays Kiritsis. The cast also includes Kristoffer Polaha, William Jackson Harper, Mireille Enos, Jonathan Tucker and Kat Cunning. Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers co-created the series, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Hamm also serves as an executive producer. American Hostage premieres September 20, 2026, with two episodes on MGM+, followed by weekly episodes through November 1.
