A Different World returns to Hillman College in a new Netflix series. Maleah Joi Moon plays Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert-Wayne from the original show. She arrives at Hillman with her own friends, challenges and plans. The sequel is designed for new viewers as well as fans who remember the first series. Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy return as Dwayne and Whitley. The cast also includes Alijah Kai as Rashida, Cornell Young IV as Shaquille, Jordan Aaron Hall as Amir, Kennedi Reece as Hazel and Chibuikem Uche as Kojo. Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer are among the original cast members returning. Debbie Allen appears as Dr. Langhorne and also directs and executive produces. The 2026 season has ten episodes.
