Steps

Steps is an animated feature from Netflix Animation Studios that turns Cinderella’s familiar fairy tale around. Lilith, one of the so-called evil stepsisters, is tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow. She steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and interrupts the royal ball with her sister Margot. Their actions give a schemer named Priscilla an opening to take the throne. Lilith and Cinderella must work together against henchmen and biker trolls while trying to repair their own strained relationship. The story unfolds in the fantasy kingdom of Alouette, with the glass slipper, midnight deadline and royal ball still recognizable.

Ali Wong voices Lilith and Stephanie Hsu voices Margot. Amanda Seyfried plays Cinderella, Nikki Glaser plays Priscilla, Daniel Radcliffe plays the prince, Bette Midler plays the Fairy Godmother, Young Mazino plays Gef, Peter Dinklage plays Roderick and Damian Priest plays Cracktor. Alyce Tzue and John Ripa direct. Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell and Kim Lessing produce, while Kris Bowers composed the score. Netflix’s September 2026 teaser and Tudum feature introduce the story and the voice cast without revealing its ending.

Netflix has set the film for November 20, 2026. Steps is a movie, not a series, and the platform announced a global Netflix release. The date is confirmed by Netflix’s own title information and official feature; there has been no announcement in those sources of a theatrical opening.
