La Bola Negra

La Bola Negra is a Spanish drama directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, the filmmaking team known as Los Javis. The story follows the lives of three gay men from different generations and connects their experiences through desire, pain, love and the pressure to express who they are. The cast includes Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas, Julio Torres, Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close. Ambrossi and Calvo shared the 2026 Cannes best director prize with Paweł Pawlikowski for Fatherland. La Bola Negra later won the Toronto International Film Festival People’s Choice Award, finishing ahead of I Play Rocky and Being Heumann. Netflix acquired the film after Cannes. It is scheduled to open in theaters on October 16, 2026 and begin streaming on Netflix on December 2, 2026.
