Current status

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse launches on October 15, 2026. KONAMI describes it as a 2D action-exploration game developed by KONAMI and Evil Empire, with Motion Twin providing advisory support. The game is unreleased as of August 16, 2026, so this guide explains announced mechanics and release information without presenting a walkthrough, a best build or a complete map.

The Castlevania: Belmont's Curse game profile contains the release and platform details. The Castlevania: Belmont's Curse guide hub lists all Pixel Twelve guides for the game.

Story and setting: Rose Belmont in 1499 Paris

The story takes place in Paris in 1499, where monstrous creatures emerge while the city burns. Trevor Belmont, the hero who defeated Dracula, enters the streets with his daughter Rose and the sacred whip known as the Vampire Killer. Rose is drawn into a conspiracy beneath the immediate monster attack and becomes the playable focus of the adventure.

KONAMI places the game 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. The official announcement also describes Rose exploring Paris and Dracula's castle across the announced environments. That time and location are confirmed story context; the full relationship between the conspiracy, the castle and the named bosses has not been disclosed.

Trevor's presence is part of the announced introduction, but KONAMI's detailed release material presents Rose as the protagonist. The sources do not confirm a second playable character, co-op, character switching or a separate Trevor campaign. Those features should not be inferred from promotional scenes showing the two characters together.

The Vampire Killer is a weapon and a traversal tool

The whip remains the central action system. KONAMI says Rose can crack the Vampire Killer to move through areas, swing across gaps, uncover hidden rooms and reach spaces that were previously inaccessible. The same mechanics create combat options from unusual positions, so the whip affects both movement and attacks.

This is an announced traversal function, not a complete control guide. KONAMI has not published the final input layout, swing range, upgrade tree, recovery rules or every surface that can be attached to. A trailer can confirm that Rose swings across a gap, but it cannot establish a universal rule for every room.

The official website describes the action as faster and more fluid, while the press material calls the game exploration-based. Those descriptions support a 2D action-exploration format with traversal and combat. They do not confirm whether the world is fully open, how stages connect, or whether every hidden room contains a reward.

Bosses and the Arcana system

Boss encounters supply a named progression system. KONAMI confirms appearances by the series bosses Death, Medusa and Carmilla, alongside new and enigmatic bosses including Joan of Arc. After a boss is defeated, it is sealed into one of Rose's tarot cards and becomes an Arcana.

Arcana cards let Rose use a defeated boss's skills to cast spells and gain unique special actions. This links boss victories to new combat options rather than treating them only as story checkpoints. The published material does not specify how many Arcana can be equipped, whether cards have cooldowns, how spells consume resources, or whether every boss provides one card.

The sources also do not confirm the order of boss encounters or the full Arcana roster. That means a pre-release guide can explain the system's confirmed relationship—boss defeated, card obtained, skill or special action available—but cannot provide an optimal Arcana loadout. A final build guide would require the released game and a version date.

Weapons and relics

Rose can customise her battle style with weapons in seven distinct categories. KONAMI's official page confirms the category count but does not name all seven categories or publish their complete move sets. The announcement says players will master different weapons and spells, while the website adds that equipment is found through exploration.

Relics add another layer. The official description says relics can trigger powerful effects in both offense and defense. Players combine weapons and relics discovered while exploring to shape how Rose fights. This is enough to establish an equipment system with offensive and defensive effects, but not enough to claim that one relic is mandatory, that weapon categories map to fixed character classes, or that every item can be upgraded.

The Midnight Edition includes an in-game relic named Family's Grace. KONAMI's European release notice lists it alongside Trevor Style and Sypha Style costumes. That bonus item is confirmed edition content, not evidence that the relic system is locked behind the premium edition; the official notice does not publish its combat effect.

Stages, secrets and hazards

KONAMI says Rose explores Paris and Dracula's castle across new stages inspired by classic Castlevania elements. The environments retain gothic aesthetics while adding refined visuals, new features and familiar series references. The release announcement specifically mentions secrets, puzzles and deadly traps in the new areas.

The confirmed exploration loop is therefore practical: move through dangerous areas, use the whip to reach spaces, fight monsters and bosses, and search for equipment or secrets. KONAMI has not released a stage list, map size, puzzle solutions, checkpoint layout or completion requirements.

Release date, platforms and editions

KONAMI's official website lists October 15, 2026, with a 60 FPS target on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and a 30 FPS target on Nintendo Switch. The February announcement opened wishlists for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The official site was later updated with a Nintendo Switch release date of October 15.

KONAMI's product information lists Japanese and English audio, with text in English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish (Spain), Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean. It lists a standard storage requirement of 8 GB, or 4 GB on Nintendo Switch; the Midnight Edition listing is 10 GB, or 6 GB on Nintendo Switch. These are published product figures and may still change before launch.

The digital and physical Midnight Editions include alternate Rose costumes, a digital Sound & Art Gallery and the Family's Grace relic. The European announcement lists Trevor Style and Sypha Style costumes and says the gallery contains 71 tracks. Pre-order or early purchase adds an Alucard-style costume, with some physical bonuses dependent on regional retailers. Availability should be checked in the buyer's region.
