Vampire Survivors looks simple at first: choose a character, enter a stage, and stay alive while enemies arrive from every direction. Your weapons fire automatically, so you spend most of your attention moving through gaps and picking up the blue experience gems that defeated monsters leave behind. As the timer advances, the crowd becomes much larger and a good build can fill the screen with attacks.

Whenever you level up, choose from offered weapons and passive upgrades. Some combinations evolve into stronger attacks after you meet their conditions, while other choices help with speed, protection, or experience. A failed run still teaches you what worked, and gold earned during play can buy permanent upgrades for future attempts. This loop of short runs and new discoveries is the game's main appeal.
Developer poncle released Vampire Survivors in early access in December 2021 and launched version 1.0 on PC on October 20, 2022, the date used for this 2022 collection. Other platforms and local co-op arrived later. Its official cover shows a dark fantasy cast beneath the original game title.
