The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a top-down adventure for Nintendo 3DS. You guide Link through Hyrule, explore dungeons, fight monsters and work out how to reach doors and treasure chests. The big twist is that Link can turn into a flat drawing on a wall. When that happens, he can move sideways along the wall, round a corner or through a narrow opening that the normal 3D Link cannot cross.

The wall ability arrives during the story; it is not available from the first screen. Once you have it, stand close to a wall and press A when the Merge prompt appears. The purple energy gauge at the left of the top screen falls while Link stays flat. Press A again to leave the wall, or he will be pushed out if the gauge empties. Ravio also lets Link rent many useful items, so you can choose which dungeon to tackle next more freely than in some older Zelda games.

Nintendo first released the game on November 22, 2013, for Nintendo 3DS. It is a new adventure connected to the world of A Link to the Past, not a remake of that Super Nintendo game. In the United States and Canada, the ESRB rates it E (Everyone) for Fantasy Violence. Nintendo stopped selling new 3DS digital games through the eShop in March 2023, so the original physical cartridge is the straightforward way to look for this version now.
