Splatoon 3 is a colorful action game about creatures called Inklings and Octolings who can switch between person-like and squid-like forms. In a Turf War match, two teams of four try to cover more of the stage in their color of ink than the other team. You fire ink with unusual weapons, then dive into your own color to move quickly, refill ink, or climb certain surfaces. Winning is about territory, not just knocking out opponents.

The game also offers a solo story in which Agent 3 investigates the Fuzzy Ooze, plus Salmon Run, where a team fights waves of Salmonids and collects Golden Eggs. Ranked Anarchy Battles use different objectives, such as holding zones or moving a tower. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is needed for the online modes; the story can be played alone. Gear and weapons give players different ways to approach a match.
Nintendo developed and published Splatoon 3 for Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. The official cover shows Inkling characters with their weapons and the game’s own logo. The gallery here uses original-game match screenshots, not pictures advertising the later Expansion Pass.
