Sea of Stars

The pair set out against the creations of an evil alchemist called the Fleshmancer. Their journey moves between settlements, paths and dungeons, with friends joining the adventure. The colourful pixel art uses lighting and animated environments rather than a flat map of identical squares. Characters can swim, climb and cross ledges while exploring, so movement has a larger role than simply choosing a direction on a tile grid.

Battles are turn-based, meaning you choose an action from a menu instead of swinging continuously. Timing still matters: pressing the action control in time with an animation can strengthen an attack or reduce damage from an enemy hit. Party members can combine attacks, and enemy locks show damage types that can interfere with a powerful move being prepared. Different attacks have a purpose beyond choosing whichever number is largest.

Enemies appear in the environments rather than arriving through random battles on an otherwise empty path. Exploring and fighting therefore share the same places. Between battles, cooking, fishing and the tabletop-style game Wheels offer different activities. The gallery contrasts a combat menu, a waterside settlement, a forest crossing and the bonus-stat choice on the Level Up screen.

The original release was a single-player adventure. The free Dawn of Equinox update added three-player local cooperative play in November 2024. Players can now share the journey, including a timed-hit system for cooperative battles. The later Sunset Edition update arrived in June 2026 with a cinematic opening and other additions; it does not turn the original release date into 2026.
