The main challenges involve finding objects and working out how to use them. A path or creature may need something you have already seen elsewhere, so noticing your surroundings matters. Tove's journal records parts of the journey, including places, folklore and collected items, giving you something to check when you are unsure what to try next.
This is an adventure built around puzzles rather than regular weapon combat. Its fairy-tale story still contains frightening creatures and brief violent events, including danger to Tove's family. The cute character design does not make every scene suitable for someone who wants a story without fear or loss.
Polygon Treehouse developed Röki, published by United Label and CI Games. The PC edition launched on July 23, 2020, with Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series editions arriving later. Choose it for exploring a northern fantasy world, meeting its creatures and following a family rescue story. Reading conversations and thinking about objects are a larger part of the experience than quick attacks.
