Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart follows Ratchet, Clank and the resistance fighter Rivet through a crisis between dimensions. A device that opens other realities separates the familiar team and brings them into contact with another version of their universe. Rivet is a Lombax, the same species as Ratchet, and becomes another playable hero rather than only a supporting character.

The action mixes shooting, close-range attacks and platforming. A broad set of weapons gives fights different rhythms, while dashes, wall-running and the Rift Tether help the heroes cross space. The Rift Tether pulls a character toward a nearby dimensional opening; it is not simply a fast-travel menu. The gallery shows a city fight, a large robot opponent and one of these bright rifts.
The adventure also includes quieter changes of pace. Clank has dimension-based puzzles, and Glitch takes part in separate combat sections. More open areas make room for exploration, while arena challenges offer another kind of battle. Photo Mode lets players frame scenes without turning the main game into a multiplayer experience. This is a single-player story, even though more than one hero is playable.
Insomniac Games developed the original PlayStation 5 release, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment on June 11, 2021. Nixxes Software brought it to Windows PC on July 26, 2023, with both studios named in the current Steam credits. The PC release is a later version of the same adventure, not the game’s first launch. The official images in this gallery come from the PC version.
