Pikmin 3 is a strategy adventure for Wii U. Three explorers—Alph, Brittany and Charlie—land on a planet to gather fruit for their hungry home world. You lead groups of small, plant-like helpers called Pikmin through gardens, caves and paths that feel enormous at their size. The Wii U GamePad shows a map, so you can see where your team is working and choose where to go next.

Each Pikmin type helps with a different problem. Red Pikmin can handle fire; Rock Pikmin have dark, angular bodies and can smash glass or crystal barriers; Winged Pikmin can fly over some ground obstacles. Look at the obstacle first, then choose the right group instead of sending everyone in. The day ends after a set amount of time, so collect your Pikmin and bring them somewhere safe before sunset. Outside the story, the original game also has Mission Mode and Bingo Battle.
Nintendo first released the original Pikmin 3 for Wii U in Japan on July 13, 2013. The later Pikmin 3 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch has extra features and different controls; this fiche is for the 2013 Wii U game. In the United States and Canada, its ESRB rating is E10+ (Everyone 10+) for Mild Cartoon Violence.
