Overcooked turns a kitchen into a fast team puzzle. Orders appear along the top of the screen and each order shows the ingredients it needs. A chef picks up food, prepares it at a station, cooks it when required, places it on a plate and delivers the finished dish at the serving counter. Dirty plates and food that burns can slow the team down. The first useful question is simple: who is collecting ingredients, who is preparing them, and who is serving? If every player runs toward the same task, another part of the kitchen stops moving.

Each level changes the workspace. One kitchen may have a long counter between players, another may be split across moving trucks, and a later stage can put hazards between the chopping boards and the serving hatch. The gallery shows the order queue, chefs around a pot, and several kitchen layouts. Look for the small food icons above the play area and the stations on the counters; those are the pieces that explain why a plate takes several steps. The game supports solo play and local co-op for up to four people. The original release was built around playing together locally; Steam Remote Play Together is a later way to share that local session over a network, not a separate in-game online mode.
Ghost Town Games developed Overcooked and Team17 published it in August 2016. This page records the original PC release; console versions and later editions expanded where people could play. Overcooked 2 is a separate sequel with its own changes. For a first session, assign one person to watch the order queue and call the next dish while the others keep ingredients and plates moving. Clear roles make the chaos easier to enjoy.
