Ori and the Will of the Wisps continues the story of Ori, the small glowing spirit from Ori and the Blind Forest. A flight with the young owl Ku goes wrong, separating the pair in the unfamiliar forest of Niwen. Ori searches for Ku while meeting new characters and finding out what has damaged the land. The emotional story sits alongside a game about exploring connected areas and learning how to cross them.

At first, some ledges, barriers, and hazards cannot be passed. New movement and combat abilities gradually open routes that were out of reach, so returning to an earlier area is a normal part of play. Combat has more active choices than in the first Ori game: Ori gains different attacks, and the player can adapt them to enemies or movement challenges. The game also offers Easy, Normal, and Hard modes, so a new player can choose how demanding the fights feel.
Moon Studios developed Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Xbox Game Studios published its worldwide release on March 11, 2020 for Xbox One and Windows PC. Steam displays March 10 in some regions because of its local unlock time; this page uses the worldwide date announced by Xbox. Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S versions followed. You can begin here, but the first game gives extra background on Ori’s family and why Ku matters.
