No Man’s Sky is a science-fiction exploration and survival game from Hello Games. Players travel between planets and star systems, scan unfamiliar life, gather materials, craft equipment, upgrade ships and build bases across a procedurally generated universe. Its systems support several kinds of journey, from charting new worlds and trading resources to improving a fleet, surviving dangerous environments or meeting other Travellers in shared spaces. Missions and story paths provide direction without forcing every player toward the same routine, leaving room for construction, discovery, combat and longer expeditions through the galaxy. First released in 2016, No Man’s Sky has grown through substantial free updates that add features and activities to the existing game. Update 7.0, Cosmos, was released on September 9, 2026 and expands deep space with station directorship, alliances, orbital bases, a star system map, salvageable hulks, outposts, improved spacewalking and an anniversary expedition. Those updates do not replace the game’s open-ended identity, and temporary expeditions remain events inside the larger game rather than separate titles.

Start exploring Cosmos with the star system map in the Quick Menu to locate planets, the station, and deep-space destinations. These points of interest begin appearing after your save has reached the Space Anomaly for the first time. The Signals tutorial introduces the map, and selecting a planet or point of interest gives your ship a destination to follow.
For shipbreaking, equip a Corvette with a Tractor Beam from the Corvette Workshop at a space station. Use the Gravitino Coil to pull salvage loose and launch it into the beam, then take raw materials to a deep-space outpost for processing. Hulks can collapse and explode as you dismantle them, so scan for valuable cargo first and leave before a meltdown.
Cosmos patch 7.01, announced on September 10, fixes the Tractor Beam’s Vent Cargo button and missing decoration in Korvax-controlled stations. It also lets both players claim rare items when completing a hulk or infested outpost in multiplayer. That announcement confirmed Steam availability first, with other platforms to follow; check your installed version before expecting those fixes.
