Max Payne 3 follows Max after his New York police career. In São Paulo, he works as a bodyguard for a wealthy family, but a protection job pulls him into a much larger conflict. The story moves through apartments, streets and rooftops rather than one repeated shootout. Max is worn down, and that exhaustion is part of the story, not a separate upgrade system to manage.

Combat is built around aiming, using cover and timing. Shootdodge lets Max dive while firing; Bullet Time slows the action so you can line up a shot during a fast exchange. The gallery moves between a dive, a stairway escape, a quieter approach, a rooftop gunfight and a broad look over São Paulo. They show distinct parts of the game without pretending that one image teaches a specific control input.
Rockstar Games published the original in North America for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 15, 2012; the Windows PC version followed on May 29. This is Max Payne 3, not the first Max Payne game or a later bundle. The U.S. ESRB rated it M (Mature 17+) for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content and Use of Drugs and Alcohol.
