Mass Effect 3 puts Commander Shepard at the center of a campaign against the Reapers. The threat reaches Earth and other worlds, but the mission is not only a sequence of firefights: Shepard speaks with old and new allies, navigates competing priorities and recruits support for the wider war. The game combines character conversations and choices with third-person shooting, powers and squadmates. It follows the first two numbered Mass Effect games, so some relationships and consequences depend on earlier choices or a new starting state.
