Peter Parker has spent eight years as Spider-Man when this game begins. He already knows how to move across New York and handle street crime, but he is also trying to keep up with work, Aunt May and the people close to him. The story is separate from the Spider-Man films. Insomniac's version of Peter has his own relationships and problems, so you can start here without watching a movie first.

You travel through Manhattan by swinging between buildings, running along walls and climbing. Combat mixes quick attacks, dodges and web gadgets. Some missions let you work through a scene more quietly; others put you in large fights or ask you to search an area for clues. Outside the main story, the open city has crimes and other activities to find. The gallery shows traversal, combat and a quieter moment with Peter rather than only poster art.
Insomniac Games developed Marvel's Spider-Man for PlayStation 4, and Sony Interactive Entertainment released it on September 7, 2018. This page is for that original PS4 game. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered later brought a revised version to PS5 and PC, while Miles Morales and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 are separate follow-up games. The 2019 date shown on some current PlayStation store listings belongs to the Game of the Year Edition, not the first release.
