About the game

Halloween: The Game brings the 1978 Haddonfield hunt into a horror sandbox built around Michael Myers, frightened residents, and players trying to survive the night. The main multiplayer mode is a 1v4 match: Michael stalks the neighborhood while four Heroes of Haddonfield warn civilians, call the police, arm NPCs, and look for a way out. The game also has a standalone single-player story that lets fans experience the events of the original Halloween film from Michael Myers’s perspective. IllFonic developed the game and is publishing it with Gun Media. The digital release is scheduled for September 8, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. IllFonic says Halloween: The Game will not be sold in Australia or New Zealand after the Australian Classification Board denied the full game a rating over a controlled substance. The developer has not announced a revised regional version or appeal.

Confirmed

No Australia or New Zealand release announced

IllFonic says it cannot sell physical or digital copies in Australia or New Zealand after the Australian Classification Board denied the full game a rating over a controlled substance.

Why people care

Players in both countries currently have no official local release path for the September launch.

Reality check

The public Australian database still shows an R18+ IARC entry for pre-order content. A separate New Zealand classification decision was not located, and IllFonic has not announced an appeal or modified build.
