Gothic 1 Remake

Gothic 1 Remake is an action RPG developed by Alkimia Interactive and published by THQ Nordic. It follows the Nameless Hero after he is thrown into the Valley of Mines, a penal colony enclosed by a magical barrier. Three rival camps compete for power, and survival depends on learning the colony's social rules, choosing alliances, exploring dangerous territory, and improving enough to face creatures that do not scale to the player. THQ Nordic says the remake was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 while preserving the original's atmosphere, story, and harsh character. The new version adds reactive NPC routines, expanded quests, modern traversal, and redesigned tactical combat without turning the colony into a level-scaled world. Gothic 1 Remake launched June 5, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is a modern reconstruction of 2001's Gothic, not the original game's Classic re-release; the two share the Valley of Mines story but differ in technology, presentation, and platform positioning.
