Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions

The big change from earlier Geometry Wars games is the arena. Some stages still look like a flat grid, while others wrap the fight over a sphere or another three-dimensional shape. The screenshots below show that difference: one fight sits on a rectangular plane, and another curves over a blue globe. You can move around the surface while enemies approach from directions that are less obvious than a flat screen suggests. Destroyed enemies drop small glowing geoms; collecting them is part of pushing for a better score, but running into a crowd to grab them can end a run.

Adventure mode gives you a sequence of challenges and bosses. Classic Arcade is there for people who want the older high-score style, and different modes change the rules of a round. Companion drones and supers can help, but they are tools, not a replacement for reading the arena. If you have never played the series, start with an early Adventure stage, learn the shape of the arena and leave yourself a way out before chasing every collectible. Lucid Games made Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions for Sierra, the publishing label used by Activision. Activision's original announcement and PlayStation's launch schedule confirm November 25, 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC; Xbox versions followed. The later free Evolved expansion added content and changed the name shown on many current storefronts. This fiche tracks the original 2014 game rather than treating Evolved as its first-release title. In the US and Canada, the original game's ESRB rating is E (Everyone).
