FEZ starts with Gomez living in what appears to be a two-dimensional village. Once the world opens up, rotating the view reveals new sides of its three-dimensional spaces. A ledge that looks separate from one angle can line up from another, and a familiar room can hide a new route when you turn it. Exploration and observation matter more than rushing through a screen.

You move through connected places, collect cubes and fragments, and solve environmental puzzles. The official images below show a golden cube, industrial platforms, glowing pillars, a green statue and a tree with doors at different heights. They are views of the same FEZ world, not five versions of one room. The PC Steam release arrived in 2013 and supplies these current images; the original Xbox Live Arcade launch was April 13, 2012.

Polytron Corporation developed FEZ, with Trapdoor involved in publishing and the original Xbox listing credited to Microsoft. This page does not use the PC release date as the game’s first release. The U.S. ESRB’s Xbox 360 entry rates FEZ E (Everyone) for Mild Fantasy Violence.
