Dressmaker puts players in charge of a dress shop where townspeople commission clothes for events and personal tastes. You choose fabric, plan garments in a sketchbook, arrange and cut pattern pieces, sew them on a machine and add decorations. Finished dresses can fulfill customer orders, earn reputation and coins, or go on display for off-the-rack sales.

The game draws on real dressmaking but does not require previous sewing knowledge. Its fabrics include cotton, linen, wool, silk and velvet, and designs can be finished with lace, bows, buttons and appliqué. Players can preview pattern pieces on a mannequin before sewing them together. At launch, Cozy Lives listed approximately 35 hours of story commissions, more than 150 dress pieces, 450 fabrics and 350 accessories. The customers have their own tastes, so each commission invites a different design.
Cozy Lives developed the game in South Africa and Free Lives published it. The complete version launched on Steam for Windows and macOS on September 21, 2026. The team has released an initial bug-fix patch and has discussed more fabrics, an online design challenge, controller improvements and possible Switch and mobile versions. The latter plans have no announced release dates.
