Divinity: Original Sin II is a fantasy role-playing game set in Rivellon, where characters with a power called Source are caught in a struggle over who will become Divine. You can pick an Origin character with a personal story or make your own hero. Companions bring their own goals and may disagree with your decisions, so a conversation can matter as much as a battle. If you have never played the first Original Sin, you can still start here: the game explains its immediate conflict and lets you learn about Rivellon by exploring and speaking to people.

The screen shows your party from above. Walk around to find people, doors, objects and side routes; select someone to talk or an object to inspect. When a fight begins, characters take turns rather than moving all at once. The action bar along the bottom holds the skills and items you can use, while portraits at the top show who acts next. Height and the ground beneath a character matter: water, fire, oil and other surfaces can change the safest route through a fight. You can play on your own with a party of companions or join up to three other players online or in local split-screen co-op.

Larian Studios developed and published the original PC game on September 14, 2017. The currently sold Definitive Edition is an updated version that later became the console edition; it does not move the game's first release to 2018. This profile uses official Larian-supplied cover and store screenshots, including the character screen, dialogue and real combat interface, so new players can see what the game actually looks like.
