Crusader Kings III is a medieval grand-strategy game about a ruling family, not a single battle. Pick a ruler on the world map and decide how that character spends power, money and relationships. Your current ruler can die, but the campaign continues with an heir if your dynasty survives. That makes marriages, children and succession as important as armies. The game turns politics into personal stories: a loyal neighbour might become a rival, while an unexpected inheritance can completely change your plans.

The map is the main workspace. Select a county to see who controls it, how much it earns and which larger realm it belongs to. Character portraits open detailed panels for traits, family, faith and claims. Before declaring war, check whether you have a legal reason and enough soldiers and funds; a powerful army is not the only way to expand. The Lifestyle screen lets your ruler develop a focus such as learning or stewardship, with perks that support different plans. If this sounds overwhelming, begin with the built-in Ireland tutorial and pause time while reading each panel. You can ignore faraway conflicts until you understand your own family and neighbours.
Paradox Development Studio made Crusader Kings III and Paradox Interactive published the original Windows, macOS and Linux release on September 1, 2020. Console editions arrived later. The base game has been expanded with optional downloadable content over time, so a screenshot from a current storefront may show menus or features that were added after launch. This profile is for Crusader Kings III itself, not its predecessor Crusader Kings II.
