Black Myth: Zhong Kui is a single-player action RPG developed by Game Science and the second entry in the Black Myth series. It draws on the Chinese folklore surrounding Zhong Kui, a legendary demon queller traditionally associated with driving away ghosts and evil spirits. The game is not a direct retelling of Black Myth: Wukong. Game Science says players will not play as a monkey character, while the studio continues to explore how Zhong Kui’s identity can shape the combat, story, and wider world. The first 15-minute gameplay demo, released on August 20, 2026, shows the protagonist fighting through selected encounters and story scenes in work-in-progress footage. The project remains in development. Game Science has not announced a release date, release window, final platform list, performance targets, or a complete explanation of its combat systems. The current platform plan is PC and major gaming consoles, with final information to come before launch.
