Astro Bot Rescue Mission puts you inside the level with Astro, a small robot searching for members of his scattered crew. Astro runs and jumps along a path ahead of you, but your own view matters too. With the PlayStation VR headset on, you can turn or lean your head to look around corners, behind walls or down below the obvious route. A crew member might be in a place you would miss if you only watched Astro's feet.

The DualShock 4 controller moves Astro and gives him ways to jump, attack and deal with obstacles. Some stages use the controller itself as a tool in the scene. Levels move from bright beaches to water and other changing settings, with larger boss fights between stretches of platforming. If you are new to this game, first check the space ahead for safe landing spots, then look around slowly for the small bots calling for help. The gallery shows Astro, a boss, the controller on screen and several kinds of level so the VR idea is easier to picture.
Sony Interactive Entertainment published the game for PlayStation 4 on October 2, 2018 in North America. Japan Studio's Team Asobi developed it. The original PlayStation VR headset and PlayStation Camera are required for this PS4 game; it is not the later Astro Bot game for PS5.
