Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is a flight-combat game developed by Bandai Namco Aces. It is set in Strangereal, the fictional world used throughout the Ace Combat series. This time, the Federation of Central Usea is trying to recover after an invasion by Sotoa. You play as a pilot who joins the crew of the aircraft carrier Endurance and flies with a squadron called Joker Flight. The campaign includes fighter-jet missions, conversations with fellow pilots and radio calls from people involved in the war.

The story scenes are mostly shown from your pilot’s point of view. You can look around during some scenes and give short responses to other characters. In missions, quick commands let you send wingmates after targets, bring them back or ask them to cover you. These are small interactions rather than a branching story; the main plot does not change based on the choices described in PlayStation’s preview.
Bandai Namco also lists Ace Combat Online as a separate multiplayer mode with co-op and competitive missions. It has its own progression apart from the story campaign. The publisher says the online mode supports cross-platform play and large social lobbies. The game is scheduled for October 2, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Some preordered Deluxe and collector editions include early access from September 29; the standard launch is October 2.
