Empathie is the biggest winner of the 41st Prix Gémeaux, finishing the 2026 edition with 14 awards. The French-language Canadian drama won Best Drama Series, the audience prize and awards for Florence Longpré, Brigitte Lafleur and Benoît Brière during the main televised gala on September 13.

How Empathie reached 14 awards
Empathie won in every part of the awards weekend. At the main gala, the series took Best Drama Series, Florence Longpré’s drama-screenplay award, the audience prize, Lead Actress for Longpré, Supporting Actress for Brigitte Lafleur and Supporting Actor for Benoît Brière.
Its opening-gala results added Guillaume Lonergan’s directing award and the prize for the production that distinguished itself most internationally. Six more craft wins completed the total: fiction costume design, casting, editing, sound, original music and cinematography.
That spread matters more than one headline category. The series was recognized for its ensemble and performances, but also for Florence Longpré’s writing and the teams shaping its visual and technical identity.
Main gala series winners
L’Oeil du cyclone Season 6 won Best Comedy or Comedy-Drama. Survivor Québec Season 3 won Best Reality Series, Salut les colocs! took the variety or performing-arts program category, and Facteur A won the interview or talk-show category.
France Beaudoin collected three hosting awards: variety or performing arts for En direct de l’univers Season 17, cultural magazine or talk show for Pour emporter Season 8, and documentary or public affairs for J’ai souvenir encore. Mani Soleymanlou won youth hosting for L’Aventure du monde des mondes Season 3.
Acting winners from the televised gala
Florence Longpré won Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Empathie. Émile Proulx-Cloutier won the corresponding lead-actor award for Avant le crash Season 3. Empathie also supplied both supporting drama winners through Brigitte Lafleur and Benoît Brière.
Le retour d’Anna Brodeur Season 2 won both lead comedy performance awards. Julie Le Breton received Lead Actress in a Comedy or Comedy-Drama, while Benoit McGinnis received Lead Actor. The production ended the full edition with four trophies.
Opening gala: La nuit devant nous leads
La nuit devant nous was the opening gala’s most awarded production with six trophies. It won youth fiction series, youth writing, youth directing and three youth performance categories for Kelly Depeault, Farès Chaanebi and Alexandre Nachi.
Ayer’s Cliff followed with three awards: short-form comedy or comedy-drama series, short-form fiction directing, and Henri Picard’s lead short-form performance. Bye Bye 2025 won the comedy-special category as well as comedy writing and directing across the opening and full-edition results.
Elena Sturk-Lussier received the Gémeaux emerging-talent award as a writer and director. Other opening-gala program winners included 100 Génies Season 7 for game show, Rebelles for animated series and Le Hockey des Canadiens à RDS for sports or leisure programming.
Documentary and crafts winners
The September 11 ceremony awarded 48 documentary and craft prizes. Empathie led with six, while Je suis là : les proches aidants en santé mentale, Enquête Season 19, T’étais où Serge?, 72 h au Vatican pour l’élection du nouveau Pape Léon XIV and Baie James 1975 : le choc des nations each finished with three.
Je suis là won documentary-series writing, documentary series in history, politics and society, and directing in that same area. Baie James 1975 won documentary program in history, politics and society plus directing, while Les enfants du large won biography, arts and culture documentary and directing.
Michelle Allen received the Prix Gémeaux des artisan·e·s for her career as a writer and author. The Académie also reported that 63 people won their first Gémeaux during the documentary and crafts ceremony.

The main gala aired live on ICI Télé and ICI Tou.tv from Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts in Montréal. Jason Roy Léveillée hosted the televised ceremony for the first time.
