Anime details
Tanuki to Kitsune is a 2026 Japanese TV anime adapted from Atamoto’s comic about a raccoon dog and fox who live together in the mountains. Tanuki enjoys eating and playing at his own pace; Kitsune often teases him, but the two are close friends. A wolf, rabbits, a bear, an ermine, a dragon and birds visit them. The show tells warm, small-scale stories about their days together rather than a single high-stakes quest. Misaki Kuno voices Tanuki, Nao Toyama voices Kitsune and Toshiyuki Morikawa voices the wolf. Maria Naganawa provides narration and a rabbit voice; Takuma Nagatsuka voices the bear and another rabbit. Tommy Hino directs at Akatsuki Media Studio, with scripts by Rika Kihara. SILENT SIREN performs the theme song “Nikoichi!” A separate series of very short web-anime episodes existed in 2018; this is a new TV production. It premieres October 4, 2026, at 7 a.m. Japan time in TV Tokyo’s Animori! block. No U.S. streaming or English-dub date has been confirmed.
