A Joseon noblewoman and a famous seducer turn desire into a dangerous wager in Netflix’s Korean period drama.
The Scandal is a Korean Netflix period drama that reimagines Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s Dangerous Liaisons in Joseon-era Korea. Son Ye-jin plays Lady Cho, an intelligent noblewoman unwilling to accept the limits placed on her. Ji Chang-wook plays Cho Won, a celebrated seducer. NANA plays Hui-yeon, a widow who becomes the unwitting target of their wager. Lady Cho first asks Cho Won to seduce a young concubine, but he counters with a challenge involving Hui-yeon. The game begins to escape their control. Jung Ji-woo directs. Netflix names Jung Ji-woo and Kim Jae-joong as creators. The series uses the strict social world of Bukchon to give the famous story of manipulation and desire a new setting. Netflix has announced a global premiere on September 18, 2026, and released a teaser, main trailer and poster. Its official title page does not state an episode count, so this page does not assume a number or a weekly schedule.
