The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is a Prime Video series set in Tolkien’s Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Its ensemble follows Elves, Men, Dwarves, Harfoots, and other figures as kingdoms rise, alliances strain, and the return of evil begins to reshape the world. The forging and influence of the Rings of Power anchor a story that moves from the elven realm of Lindon and the island kingdom of Númenor to Khazad-dûm, the Southlands, and other regions. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay developed the series for television and serve as showrunners and executive producers. Amazon has scheduled the first four episodes of Season 3 for November 11, 2026. The series remains distinct from Tolkien’s books, the live-action film trilogies, animated adaptations, and individual Lord of the Rings games.
