The Ministry of Time

The Ministry of Time follows Sophy, a civil servant who earns a promotion and learns she will work as a bridge for people pulled from history. Her assignment is Commander Graham Gore, a Victorian polar explorer taking part in the government’s secret time-travel experiment. Sophy and Graham’s professional relationship grows into a forbidden romance while the Ministry’s plans become more dangerous. Other expats, officials and members of Sophy’s family widen the story beyond the central pair. Alice Birch adapts Kaliane Bradley’s novel, with Aneil Karia as lead director. A24 is producing the six-part drama for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Filming is taking place in and around London, and the BBC has not announced a premiere date.
