Overview

Where to watch

The Lowdown follows Lee Raybon, a self-styled citizen journalist in Tulsa who also runs a rare-book shop. Ethan Hawke plays a reporter whose curiosity and persistence get him involved in local wrongdoing even when his personal life is already difficult. Sterlin Harjo created the series and writes, directs and executive produces; Hawke is also an executive producer. FX Productions produces the show. The first season’s Dale Washberg reporting leads to a local journalism award in Season 2. Public defender Ginger asks Lee to find a client who has disappeared from a state penitentiary. At home, Francis wants more time with her father, while the arrival of Lee’s estranged father complicates a lie he has told her. Betty Gilpin plays Ginger and Tommy Lee Jones plays Lee Raybon Sr. Keith David is Marty, Ryan Kiera Armstrong is Francis, Kaniehtiio Horn is Samantha and Rafael Casal is Johnny, Samantha’s new husband. The second season has eight episodes. Where to watch in the United States: all eight Season 1 episodes are currently streaming on Hulu. Season 2 premieres October 14, 2026 on FX and Hulu; those new episodes are a future release. Availability outside the United States may differ. Hulu’s U.S. series listing rates The Lowdown TV-MA.
